Stop Hating!
This is a response to a hate message I saw on a friend's Facebook page

Honestly, that's not true at all. Some Republicans are that way, just like I know some Democrats who stockpile weapons, some who shop stores like Lord and Taylor on a regular basis. One liberal friend of mine had a Jaguar.
As for Americans Against the Republican Party, I stay away from all groups that spread hate, whether Democrat or Republican. Americans Against the Republican Party has an agenda, it is biased, and it spreads propaganda. Rather then working to find solutions to societies problems, it instead spreads animosity. Americans Against the Republican Party would fit right into 1930’s Germany.
Going around proclaiming that we hate ½ the population, which is would be over 150,000,000 million people, is absolutely ludicrous.
There was a time democrats sported bumper stickers on our cars that read “Hate Is Not A Family Value.” We can’t say we’re tolerant, and then go around and practice it on a selective basis, for that would make us hypocrites.
Those who denigrate others because of their political stance are woefully unaware that “democracy” means the representation of many voices and opinions. As George Orwell pointed out is his essays, political philosophies that exclude those whom they believe to be inferior are totalitarian.
Rather then spread hate and ignorance as Americans Against the Republican Party does, we need to stop it. It has to begin with oneself. Otherwise, the cycle of hate and ignorance will just continue.

Here's the link to a story that showed up on LiveLeak. As reported. "a crowd of angry rioters descended on a Palestinian Arab man during anti-Israel riots on Wednesday, beating him with their hands and with sticks until IDF forces physically rescued him from his compatriots. According to the news outlet, the rioters were convinced that their victim - fellow rioter 40 year-old Yousef Abu Badria - was an undercover police officer."

"where is the gut-wrenching shame and self-loathing? where is the dark cloud of misery?"
Good observation. Even at 67, I still suffer from major depression (thank God for antidepressants), the results of being a physically and emotionally battered child. I've worked at coping for over 40 years, with some degree of success.
I suspect the mother above had a similar type of background.
The first part of dealing with such a problem is recognizing it exists in the first place. Since they grew up with it, I feel many abusive people consider their behavior to be normal. For whatever the reason, her daughter appears to have a good sense of self, i.e., knowing she can improve, but not agonizing over it.
I’ve felt for a long time that some sort of psychology class needs to be taught to kids all throughout grade school, to help them understand negative attitudes, and give them a head start into becoming mature adults.
In the long-term, I feel that the hatred we see in the world is something that keeps getting passed on through generations. The social movements that began in the ‘60s have fallen short, because they’ve been based wishful thinking. While parading through streets with signs makes one feel good via a sense of superiority, the problems really won’t go away until we figure out a way to break that chain, and that has to begin with the kids, and that involves a lot of self-introspection, and the willingness to look at the entire scope of the situation, rather then scape-goating.
