"Intellectual Dishonesty"
This is a perfect example of what is called “Intellectual Dishonesty,” in this case, a transparently poor attempt to denigrate a group by making it seem as if they’re less-then-human, in this case by implying they don’t care about the poor.
This is done by taking Republican concerns that the ever increasing tax rate will only in the long run hurt society, and attempting to fabricate a negative image from these fears by comparing them to Jesus feeding the poor.
In order for an individual to convince their mind that what is being presented here is the real deal, an important part of the original story has to be intellectually suppressed, and that is …
Jesus didn't collect taxes to buy the food. This was a miracle! There were no politics involved whatsoever. He caused the bread and fish to multiple amongst the crowd as it was being distributed. He did this out of the kindness of his own heart.
He did other things too that vexed the self-righteous, like hanging out with those who were despised, and telling hypocrites to remove the board from their eye before complaining about the speck in their neighbor’s.
Indeed, anyone who uses God or Jesus as part of a political hit piece, whether liberal or conservative, is not thinking things through.
I think it would be far better to focus on specific people and events that clearly demonstrate a disregard of others, rather then contrive, distort and omit information in order to make a point.
It’s hard to deny a story that’s based on fact rather then opinion, and rather then hating an entire group, roughly 165,000,000 people in the U.S., energy could be focused where it’s specifically needed.
