NHSM Visits the
Immaculate Conception School

Last Wednesday, three amigos from the Natural History Society of Maryland (NHSM), Adrian Malick, Tom Piscitelli, and Truly Yours, gave four fossil presentations to three separate classes of 6th graders and one 7th grade class, at Immaculate Conception School in Towson.
Thanks to Adrien, the NHSM regularly donates kits containing locale fossils to area schools.
When science teacher Rachael Ginburg saw our kit, she asked if we could visit and do a live presentation :)
It's like asking a jazz musician if they'd like to perform at the Lincoln Center ...
While flexible in intent, I started by talking about two collecting localities, one west of Frederick, and one west of Hagerstown. Tom followed up with stromatolies and eurypterids (New York's State Fossil). Then came Adrien with information about Maryland's Miocene Epoch sharks.
It was a great experience for all, especially the kids, who were incredibly enthusiastic ...
