Animals & Bugs
Of course, bugs are animals, but as we move along onto the 21st Century, why let facts stand in the way ;)
From roughly age 8-10. I lived on a small, 10-acre farm, in Fork, MD - let's say roughly 1955-58. Interestingly enough, some 50 years later, Fork hasn't even changed all that much.
Even my father's small TV-radio repair shop is still there, though the building is crumbling away.
My parents weren't farmers. All we had was a half-acre vegetable garden behind the house. Plus they'd sell some evergreen trees around Christmas.
It was mainly a business venture. They bought the ground and built the house, later selling it for profit.
The important thing for this page though, was that critters of all sorts were everywhere, at least to me. I'm thinking being closer to the ground at the time, gave me a better sense of awareness of what was going on. Plus even back then, I was curious about the world.
When I finally was able to afford to buy a decent camera, I did. Initially it was for documenting places I visited, meetings, gigs, etc. When I had opportunities to use it for nature shots, I did, and these are the results. Most of the "bug" shots were taken when I lived a stones throw away (literally depending on where one was standing in the community), from Baltimore Counties Marshy Point Park. There are a couple of pages devoted just to that park. Most of what we see here was taken around where I lived :)
