Al Sharpton
To me, Reverend Al Sharpton stands in direct contrast to the philosophies of Martin Luther King, Jr.
While King sought to unite us, Sharpton seeks to divide. Portraying himself as a "Liberator", he plays on the fears, frustrations, and anger of people. His methods have heightened animosity rather then curtailed it, and it is he himself who benefits most, and not those he claims to represent.
It would be understandable if it were isolated incidents, but there is a consistent pattern of unleashed hatred, violence, and even death in the wake of his activities, many of which are based on rumor, unsubstantiated "truths." One would have thought he'd have changed his approach over the years, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

1991 Crown Heights Riots
Fueled by rumors after an automobile accident in which a black child was killed by a Jew, after his car was struck by another vehicle.
"The marchers proceeded through Crown Heights, carrying antisemitic signs and an Israeli flag was burned. Rioters threw bricks and bottles at police; shots were fired at police and police cars were pelted and overturned, including the Police Commissioner’s car." - Wikipedia
“ … a group of approximately 20 young black men surrounded 29-year-old Australian Jew, Yankel Rosenbaum, a University of Melbourne student in the United States conducting research for his doctorate. They stabbed him several times in the back and beat him severely, fracturing his skull.” - Wikipedia
“ … two weeks after the riot had been controlled, Anthony Graziosi, an Italian sales representative with a white beard dressed in dark business attire, was driving in the neighborhood. As he stopped at a traffic light at 11 pm, six blocks away from where Yankel Rosenbaum had been murdered, a group of four black men surrounded his car and one of them shot and killed him. It was alleged by Graziosi's family and their attorney, as well as Senator Al D'Amato, Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, State Attorney General Robert Abrams, former Mayor Ed Koch, and a number of advocacy organizations, that Graziosi's resemblance to a Hasidic Jew precipitated his murder.” - Wikipedia

"But he does not outright apologize for his conduct. And his conduct was reprehensible."
1995 Freddie's Fashion Mart Massacre
In this incident, Sharpton lead a group of protestors, in what was originally a rent dispute, that resulted in the following:
“Roland J. Smith Jr., one of the protesters, entered Harari's store with a gun and flammable liquid, shot several customers and set the store on fire. The gunman fatally shot himself, and seven store employees died of smoke inhalation. - Wikipedia
“ ... in a tape of a broadcast from a Sept. 9 rally, Sharpton said, "I want to make it clear to the radio and audience and to you here that we will not stand by and allow them to move this brother so that some white interloper can expand his business on 125th St.” – New York Daily News

"The United House of Prayer was a large African-American church and a major landlord in Harlem.
In 1995 they raised the rent on Freddy's Fashion Mart, a Jewish-owned clothing store which had operated from the same Harlem location for over 40 years.
In turn Freddy's had to raise the rent on its sub-tenant, a black-owned record store. A landlord-tenant dispute ensued.
Al Sharpton (pictured) stepped in and turned this non-racial economic dispute into a racial conflict.
At a rally on September 9, 1995, that was broadcast on the radio, Mr. Sharpton is heard telling a crowd:
'I want to make it clear to the radio audience and to you here that we will not stand by and allow them to move this brother so that some white interloper can expand his business on 125th Street.'
Sharpton made no mention that it all started when the African-American church raised the rent on Freddy's Fashion Mart who in turn passed some of the increase on the black-owned record store." - http://caveviews.blogs.com/cave_news/2013/07/the-sharpton-incited-riot-at-freddys-fashion-mart.html
