By pressuring the legislature to legalize recreational marijuana, Gov. Wolf is following the Marxist maxim, "never let a crisis go to waste." His solution for the damage to the economy caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus lockdown is to tax this drug which the media has led the public to believe is basically harmless.
He doesn't mention that Colorado is already dealing with an increasing black market cutting into the state's profits. Apparently pot users don't like paying taxes. Shouldn't we wait a decade or so to evaluate the unintended consequences of legalization before letting the genie out of the bottle?
As a psychiatric nurse, now retired, I saw the harm this drug can wreak on mental health. Surely he realizes that legalization will result in more users. Has the governor bothered to read the studies that implicate marijuana use in increasing both psychosis and violence, or its effects on IQ and motivation?
Can we really afford more dysfunctional people reliant on the government for survival? Of course, these would be reliable Democrat voters.
