A vital stat that hardly ever gets discussed is that about 12,000 die in America, victims of drug and gang violence, mainly via handguns. The persons doing the shootings are criminals.
Criminals don't give a damn about law, including hand gun laws.
Gun control extremists can't seem to wrap their heads around this, and instead waste everyone's energy blaming the NRA or Republicans, and are continually infringing on Second Amendment rights, in the apparent belief that criminals will magically surrender their firearms.
Until the scapegoating stops, and the real issue addressed, gun violence will continue. FB / 05-19-2014

I feel that what needs to be developed is a strategy that will bring this issue about violent criminals better into the public's mind. The school shootings are tragic, but the numbers from criminal murders are far greater. I think we’d get better results if the efforts from police departments, civic leaders, and politicians were brought into question.
The initial reaction will be finger pointing and blame, but if public pressure is kept up, we might have a successful unified effort.
As an example of the resistance to this approach: The day after the Travon Martin verdict, I saw Baltimore City’s press conference about it. A black official said that now that the trial was over, the community needed to focus the violent crime that was plaguing many neighborhoods.
To me that was great news, especially considering that a few months earlier, the son of a vocalist I work with was shot seven times in the back in a gang related incident.
I shared that sentiment with “progressive” radio talk show host, Marc Steiner, asking if he could lend his resources to the effort.
He said no, that he had to spend his time countering “rampant” racism. I investigated and found out that while there were some racist incidents, there was not one single racially motivated murder in Baltimore’s recent history.
Steiner is so obsessed with issues that were in vogue fifty years ago, that he couldn’t see that the world has changed. He believes himself to be a civil rights guru, and can’t see the real tragedy that happens around him daily.
And as a guru, he has a following that suffers the same neurotic affliction, fighting against enemies that while offensive, have minimal impact on our society, and minimizing the 200+ that are shot to death on Baltimore’s streets every year.

Looking Ahead:
The Supreme Court's decision today regarding the constitutionality of the Massachusetts law that created buffer zones around abortion clinics in an attempt to prevent confrontations, will probably have further ramifications. - "The court ruled that it went too far and prevented the free speech of law-abiding abortion opponents."
I'm sure that regarding the Second Amendment gun control debate, the issue about law-abiding Americans being penalized and viewed as potential murders will, as a result of today's ruling, be given considerable consideration. FB / 06-26-2014

One thing that disturbs me about gun control advocates, is the way they ignore what's going on, especially in the black communities. Gangs and drug dealers are wrecking havoc and have effectively terrorized civilians into compliance. Far more people die from continual gun violence here, then in the more "popular" school incidents. When I visit these sites, they blame Republicans and the NRA for everything and anything, but ignore the reality of what's happening. Dare I say it? It's as if they're racist in outlook.
