AIDS is Real, HIV is Fake
While involved in a discussion on FB about the pros & cons of vaccines, a con posted a page, in defense of his anti-vaccine views. This is my reply ...

Aleksandr, I did poke around the "AIDS is Real, HIV is Fake," page, and did find an area of links, though it wasn't clearly marked. Just a note, published scientific papers have references clearly marked and listed at the end.
Besides the assumption on this page that AIDS is a myth, there was also an attack on "Big Pharma" in the comments. These assumptions go hand-in-hand with the anti-vaccine position, and similar conspiracy theory based views of the world.
As Jeffery Kluger, science editor for Time Magazine has pointed out, while intelligent and well educated, they labor under the delusion that they know better then doctors, scientists and researchers.
To continue, from that original page, I went to "Pointing to evidence that HIV is not the necessary and sufficient cause of AIDS," which lead me to, "The Huw Christie Memorial Prize: $100,000 Reward for 'HIV'
The prize is for "the first person who can prove that 'HIV' exists via visual confirmation." I'm not sure what the point of this is, maybe because it was published back in 2002, but the Internet has plenty of images of the HIV virus taken by electronic microscopes.
Some of the ascertains here strike me as odd. Things like:
"There is no evidence that 'HIV' is a sexually transmitted retrovirus"
"There is no 'AIDS' epidemic in South Africa."
This is because the author believes that AIDS is caused by a "global recreational drug epidemic and diseases which thrive in the Third World such as TB and malaria."
In regard to gays it says, "The immunological-stressors of the 'gay life style' (recreational drug use, antibiotics, flu jabs, alcoholism, untreated STDs, etc) can make many gay men test 'HIV' positive."
A big red-flag in this document is the following condemnation -
"The orthodoxy always comes up with cloned laboratory artefacts from which they adduce similar objects are to be found plentifully in the wild."
First of all, "Orthodoxy" is a word used in political discourse. This indicates that this document's true intent is political, and not scientific.
Real scientific papers don't prove their argument by suggesting that other researchers have cheated. They do it by providing data that can't be refuted by the peer review process.
One final mark against this piece is its inclusion in alternative medicine websites.
