Fossils & Shells
2016-7-24
The Exhibit Room was filled with specimens brought in by both professional and amateur collectors. As always, curious visitors asked plenty of questions. John Nance, Assistant Curator of Paleontology at the Calvert Marine Museum, gave the presentation. After giving some background as to the geology of the East Coast, then the Chesapeake Bay, Nance talked about the fossil teeth found on the beaches of Calvert Cliffs and the animals that bore them. Mostly it was sharks, but the was also information about rays, skates, porpoises, and whales.
